Artist Statement My name is Cesar Alexander Monroy, was born in Guatemala, Central America. I moved to the United States, in 1987, at the age of 16, Graduated from Los Angeles High School, in Los Angeles, CA. in 1991. I joined the U.S. Marines, in 1992, ended my contract in 1996, and did a variety of jobs, from 1996 to 2002, when I re-joined the Marines (because of the terrorist attacks in Sept. 11, 2001) I couldn't just sit down and watch the war on TV, I felt that I needed to do something, and that was the only thing that came to mind. I ended my second tour with the Marines, in February 2006. I like to go hiking in the mountains of San Gabriel, in southern CA. and when not hiking, I'm mountain biking at the same mountains. I have taken hundreds of pictures of the scenery that I see wherever I go, Rivers, Mountains, Trees, Wild animals, Historic sites found all over these mountains, and anything that seems interesting and would make a good picture, of course, nature related, my goal is to take pictures of Bears, and Mountain Lions that roam the area, so far I've seen one bear, but it was too far away, plus it took off when it saw me. I found some mountain lion paw prints in the snow a few weeks ago, so there around me, it's a matter of time.
