Artist Statement Art and nature have always been a part of Barbara’s Reding’s life. Her passion for painting is expressed in her wide range of subjects. She is primarily known for her bucolic California and French landscapes painted in vibrant, warm colors.

The artist’s talent was recognized at an early age. Barbara displayed a natural talent for drawing and painting. Through her interest in impressionism, she has traveled throughout the world studying impressionism and has captured on canvas the light and beauty of that 19th Century movement. She has painted and exhibited in Europe, Africa and the United States.

Barbara’s current work is particularly inspired by the beauty of the Monterey Bay area. She was the featured artist in May and June 2013 at Venture Gallery in Monterey.

Barbara is listed in the Who’s Who of American Artists. She is a member of the Santa Cruz Artist League, Monterey Bay Plein Air Painters Association, Central Coast Art Association, and Venture Gallery, Monterey, California. Her work may be viewed at the Venture Gallery.

"My work is a response to the natural beauty of a subject and what the scene suggests. I have painted most of my life and feel very fortunate to experience the excitement of capturing the light, colors and values of a compelling scene and interpreting this on canvas." - Barbara Reding

Her work has been shown at Westminster, London, England: Sunset Center, Carmel, California: National Acrylic Painters Association invitational show (Signature members), New Orleans, Louisiana: 6th International exhibition National Acrylic Painters Association Signature Show, Santa Fe, New Mexico.
