Richard Baker, Fullerton
Member Since September 2010
Artist Statement Richard Baker studied design and painting at the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles and then worked as an art director, graphic designer and illustrator for advertising agencies and art studios in Los Angeles and Orange Counties before opening his own studio in Fullerton, California.

Along with his commercial design and illustration commitments, he has always found time for his personal painting. His mixed media and watercolor paintings have been selected for inclusion in the Annual Watercolor West Exhibitions and the Carte Blanche All-Media Juried Exhibit at the Brea Civic & Cultural Center Gallery.

One of his digital paintings (Guitar Man) was selected by Macworld Magazine for their 2003 Macworld Conference and Expo Digital Art Show. Richard’s digital paintings may start on a blank computer screen, or with a drawing in graphite or ink. Or sometimes with one of his photographs. These traditional media techniques are then scanned into the computer and worked with to arrive at the finished piece.

Recently he has concentrated solely on his abstract painting utilizing mixed-media and acrylic.
