Lisa A. Snyder, Ewing, NJ
Member Since June 2011
Artist Statement Lisa A. Snyder is 29 and has lost both parents in her 20′s to cancer. Her father passed away the day before her 23rd birthday from Hodgekins Disease Lymphoma in October 2004 and her mother to AML (Leukemia), in June 2009 when she was 27. After being by their side during the decline of their health and present for their transition out of the physical world, she learned to to help each of her parents finish up their business on earth and helped prepare them for their transition to whatever is after this life all the while dealing with family, hospitals, doctor communication, keeping up her energy level, and keeping her business alive as well as process her own grief.

She now is working towards understanding how to live without parents and through life’s daily challenges, she strives to live a healthy, active and adventurous, art filled life and contributes to her blog, http://LosingYourParents.org .

Her whole life she was surrounded by technology and a taste for art with her father a video engineer for CBS Television and her mother an artist. After her father won an Emmy for his engineering work, she was inspired to learn a way to express herself artistically using technology and pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Computer Graphics at Syracuse University’s School of Visual and Performing Arts. Here, she was not only educated in working with the computer as a medium, but added to the palate metalsmithing, wheel throwing, art history, photography, drawing, painting, 2-D and 3-D Design and in the process, learned to organize and plan. She has been recognized in Time Out New York for her work as the Founder of the Michigan Womyn’s Music Festival Benefit Party, which has been raising money for the passed 6 years.

Over 15 years, she has headed the coordination process of over 75 websites and 250 email marketing campaigns at various production and marketing firms, started her own web design business, Elle*Eye Design, LLC (http://www.ElleEye.com), and has rediscovered her love for painting. In June 2010, she sold her first painting at NJ’s 'Art All Night' event to none other than the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation’s Environment Program Director, Michelle Knapik. She is a resident of Ewing, NJ and is looking forward staying connected to the art world, her artist self, and helping others to do the same.
