Artist Statement Andre Hugo is a Canadian writer, photographer and retired senior executive whose focus is on the Western Hemisphere with particular love for his home country and those of the Andean Region of South America.

An award winning writer, he works to combine the best of the written word with photography that best depicts the world in which we live and help others realize their dreams.

He has acted in the National Geographic TV series Locked Up Abroad and for The Discovery Channel program Getting Out Alive.

In November 2010 he was cited by The Order of St John ( St. John's Ambulance ), a prestigious Order throughout the British Commonwealth dating back to the Crusades, for saving two lives; - the first for massaging the heart ( CPR) of a man found without pulse or respiration and family weeping around, the man came back to life; the second, for freeing the blocked airway of a woman who was choking and unable to breathe.

Before becoming a writer and photographer, Andre had a career as a military officer, was a government official and member of international governmental committees, turned around two failing companies having markets in over 70 countries, was President of a multi-lingual school board, served as a National VP of a professional association and raised two children as a single parent.

An optimist who has had his share of challenges, he considers every day a wonderful day, has learned to appreciate each moment and looks forward to helping others to live their dreams, big and small.
