Description Bruges is an amazing Belgium city. Walking through the streets you will find many wondersthe historic center, the Burg, Town Hall, the Market Hallshowever, a visit to the city isnt complete without a boat trip on its canals. The half-hour trip allows the visitor to appreciate Bruges from a completely different angle. This photograph was taken on one of the five landing stages of the boat trip. The canals are so amazing that sometimes the city is called the The Venice of the North, even though the cities are built very differently. Venice was founded on islands in a lagoon of the Adriatic while Bruges lies deeper inland. I didnt have time for a boat trip on this visit, but I want to revisit the city and continue exploring all its wonders with my camera.
Marc Garrido, Barcelona Member Since February 2009 Artist Statement When I was Young, after begging a lot, my parents bought me my first camera. I did a lot of photograph: at home, on holydays, playing with my friends… anytime was a good time to shoot. However, it was a relief for parents' economy that I left the camera almost forgotten.
With the arrival of digital cameras I get back to my hobby, but wasn't till I get my current job that I do start seriously with photography. My job requires me to travel far and wide, and of course I could not leave the camera at home.
All started with some Sydney photographs done by a partner. After seeing the results achieved with a good camera and a wide angle lens I couldn't resist to buy my first DSLR. Then came hours and hours reading about photography, more hours of practice, purchase of photographic equipment and back to the reading. So far I still have a terrible desire to continue learning and enjoying this wonderful art.
After some years behind the camera I think that I'm qualified to say that what really excites me is studio photography, especially still live compositions and always with a very personal standpoint.
