Description Late springtime view of the snow-capped Tetons with an abandonded cabin built by Mormon settlers in the foreground. The grasses are unusually green due to a very rainy and prolonged Spring this year (2009). A herd of bison can be seen grazing in the distance, with the area surrounding the bison herd colored yellow by the blooming balsam root.
David Kocherhans, Utah Member Since March 2009 Artist Statement My passion for photography comes from a powerful affinity and affection for the beauty of the natural world. I am continually amazed by nature’s unique ability to transform in a way that ordinary things can suddenly become extraordinary for a few moments with the infusion of a particular lighting, a droplet of water, a passing storm, a temperature extreme, a rising or setting sun, a change of the seasons, and the like. Even the most ordinary and mundane subjects in the natural world have a moment when there is some extraordinary beauty, and I love searching out and discovering those moments. Many of the subjects of my photos are not remarkable or majestic -- they are not the kind of thing you would stop the car for. They are often isolations of some ordinary subject in a remarkable moment of beauty.
To me, experiencing the natural beauties of this world is both spiritually healing and mentally rejuvenating. I hope you find similar inspiration through my work.
