Description 'Cherokee Traditions' A very wise, and old traditionpassed on through many generationsconcerns the rules of going fishingin all the lands, of all the nationsbe not to take all you can get, let little ones go out and grow, and do not use a fishing netattached behind your boat to tow.Since Nature knows how to providefor all her people and her critters, you must go hunting far and wide, and of the wild beasts' springtime littersyou may take one, perhaps a pig, raise him at home to feed the tribe.Always think small and don't act bigand only rarely do imbibe, as white man's water, mixed with firecan rob you of your heart and soul, convert you into a big liarand take away from you your role.If there is one way that we measureall man and beast by (ancient rules) , that word is HONOUR, and a treasureand those who have it are no fools. Matthew Schwartz (AKA Spadecaller) is a grateful survivor who conveys his convictions and serenity through visual art, poetry, and video.
He was trained in traditional oil techniques as a child and later attended The School of Visual Arts in New York City (1970-71). During the 70's up until the late 80's he exhibited acrylic and oils in New York, and presently resides on the west coast of Florida.
Since the advent of image editing software, he has turned more to creative digital hand painted images and photos striving to fuse these into an art form worthy of the distinction traditional painters deserve.
Spadecaller showcase his digital paintings, poetry, and other mixed media images by creating videos; these are available for viewing at: http://www.youtube.com/user/Thespadecaller.
