Artist Statement Short Bio: Cameron MacMaster

After nearly 20 years as a professional dancer and choreographer in Canada and abroad, Cameron MacMaster retired from dance and returned to Toronto in 2001 to pursue his love of photography and focus his creative energies on establishing himself and his photography company, Froz’n Motion.

Cameron believes that a great photograph should reflect the full expression of what one feels about his subject in the deepest sense, and so it becomes, thereby, a true expression of what one feels about life in its entirety.

He has traveled and photographed extensively throughout Canada, the US, Hong Kong, China, Mexico, Jamaica, Cuba, Europe, Israel, Australia, India, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and the Island of Bali.

Cameron is currently putting together his first photo exhibition in Toronto, and is in the process of completing his first novel. He has been a regular contributor to the New Leaders of Sunnybrook Foundation Muse Art Auction, and five of Cameron’s photographs won top awards in the 2009 City of Toronto Photo Contest, while five others garnered Honourable Mentions. In the past year, Cameron has published two large volumes of photographs as well as collaborating with Toronto poet, T.S. Simmons, on a collection of photographs and poetry. He is expecting his first child in May 2010.
