Description This is the old part of Willemstad, Curacao. This island is part of the Netherlands Antilles. One of the first governors of Curacao would get migraines from the heat and all the buildings being white. He imposed a law that all buildings will be any other color but white !
Kimberly Welker, Kansas City Member Since June 2009 Artist Statement Welcome ~ I've been a photographer for several years now. It started out as a little hobby but it quickly turned into a full blown passion ! I love taking photos, little bits of memories here and there. I love taking photos of what I see in nature and I absolutely love shooting in macro, especially flowers. I am hearing impaired, since birth, because I cannot hear I must always be aware of my surroundings I always watch. I see a lot, more than the average person is aware of.
I see beauty in this world that it is incredible. I want to share this beauty that I see with anyone and everyone ! I see things that are fascinating, again I want to share this with you ! I’m capturing moments in time to be preserved forever.
I have had one of my photographs published in the Anthology, “ Blindness Isn’t Back “ through VSAarts. I’m truly honored and humbled to have been chosen. I will also be involved in a traveling exhibit of my work the fall of 2010 and spring of 2011. I have had several showings of my work here in the state of Missouri.
I have another work of art that's been chosen to be published in the 2011 Missouri Anthology " Where The Wind Blows " again, I'm humbled to be a part of such a wonderful organization, VSAarts.
I sincerely hope you enjoy my photos, they are here for your enjoyment ! Thank you ! Any questions please email me.
