Elizabeth Liz Pritchett Member Since June 2012 Artist Statement I was born in Los Angeles and have lived in Southern California most of my life. As a young girl my mother would take me to art shows and museums to view the paintings and sculptures. I became in awe of the beauty that I saw and became inspired by the impressionist painters. I especially admired the female impressionist Mary Cassatt. Learning to appreciate art at a young age I began to start my own painting's. Unable to afford art college I took painting and drawing workshops throughout my life. When I was able I enrolled at California State University Fullerton and received a B.A. degree in studio art. I love to paint and put my visual ideas on canvas. I simply love the feel of the paintbrush and the idea that I can create something visually pleasing for myself and others.
Painting is now and will always be my passion. My favorite medium is oil however I also work in acrylic and pastels and watercolor. I paint figurative, portrait and landscapes in what I precieve to be the style of a surrealist. I keep my colors vivid and britght in an attempt to create the emotion of the moment. My favorite subjects are of everyday events of friends and family and I will often work them into my artwork.
I recently co-wrote and illustrated a children's book "Jake and Emi's Neighborhood" which can be found on amazon.com. I also illustrated two bookcover's "Deadly Deceit" and "Blue Oblivion" written by my husband Dennis Pritchett also available on Amazon.com.
