Description An unconventional woman calmly lost in her own thoughts. Women can be a torrent of emotion and feeling and we tend to think with our hearts and let it guide us through life. Sometimes I get overwhelmed myself and wish I could just see things as black and white but it's just not how I operate. I will tackle a problem with determined logical and emotional focus analyzing it to my eventual exhaustion, often focusing on minute details rather than seeing the big picture. This image is how I wish I could be, able to meditate and get lost in quiet contemplation without the never-ending flurry of jumbled thoughts.Stock photo credit: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jazz_defo/1372545382/in/photostream/
Shawna Rowe Member Since July 2012 Artist Statement I grew up in a creative family who loved photography, music, art and random hiking adventures. That helped me to develop a love for nature and artistic expression early on. I've never limited myself to one particular medium but I do favor graphic shapes, bold colors and whimsical style. Whatever the medium, I try to include some or all of those elements in my work.
My family has always been a big inspiration and they feature in a series of satirical cartoons that I've done just for fun over the years. Each year I make a new cartoon to celebrate each of my daughter's birthdays. I've also made my own greeting cards for family members over the years.
Lately, I've been making detailed magazine collages. Each one is made of 100% recycled paper cut into tiny shapes and carefully applied much like paint onto canvas. It's an art-form that requires a lot of time and patience but I love this unusual way of creating. Thank you for visiting my gallery!
