Artist Statement I am a sociologist by training. After working for sometimes in the development sector and finding it rather boring pushing paper and money, I turned back to my childhood obsession - ART! I have always liked art, thanks to my mother (Mrs. Ruth Yogarajah) who is very talented (she's a born artist who can change the scrapiest of scraps into objects of fine art). Together we decided to follow one of our favorite pastimes from my childhood - collecting flowers, pressing them and using them as a medium to tell a story - usually beautiful stories of flowers, birds, fancy things that are frequent in the happy dreams of children's minds...

As such, 'Eco Art' was born... The art we produce uses 100% plant materieal and is a celebraton of nature in all its spleandor. We do not harm anyting, pollute the world or destroy lives to produce our work. The fallen leaf of a hedgethorn becomes the wing of a butterfly, a dried rose petal morphs into a bird with a fancy plumage and so on.

As a sociologist, I know that human society can only survive if it maintains sustainable interfaces with nature (where nature is given its due respect). Our form of art arguably is one way of celebrating and rejoicing in the glory of mother nature.
