Description Gaiters worn over the shoe and lower pant leg were the fashion in Victorian times. Usually made of leather and although a fashion statement gaiters were practical in protecting the leg while horse back riding or walking in dense underbrush. Here this woolen pair is photographed with an original button hook (and shoe horn), a time saving devise to get all those little buttons organized.
