Artist Statement Kristine L. Johnston - Artist and Photographer

As humans we are all a culmination of our individual life experiences. Through these experiences, we live collecting many stories. These stories express the very core of our lives. My motivation to create has come from an amazing energy that stirs deep within me to express these stories visually. The stories come from my life and stories that others have shared with me over the past years.

My intent over the past 15 years has primarily been to express the human condition articulated in unique and various visual mediums including, textiles, colored pencil, pastels, watercolor, charcoal, pen & Ink, artist markers, recycle art and simple children’s crayons.

My creative passion is driven deeply when I ask myself, “In what way can I touch the minds thoughts and emotions of others visually. How can I “write” the story through the "voice" of my art so that they could enjoy the message of the final work? What elements do they need to feel and to see in the message?

When I ponder this way my observations touch my mind, will and emotions. I am seriously considering the need to share these stories of others lives as well as my own. These stories are a big part of the developments, which make us who and what we are. Through my internal visualization of the thoughts and emotions within my mind, will and emotions, the visual story can be told. Visual

My work has been exhibited in 1 solo event, and 5 group exhibitions

Kristine Johnston - Photographer
I began working as a portrait photographer in 2006 photographing 4-5 days a week in schools across Colorado. During my second year I led teams of Photographers on these trips. After the workday was done, I routinely looked for interesting subjects to capture with the goal of an increase the level excellence of my photographic skills. Searching for the perfect angle and lighting for a shot is very invigorating! I find taking outdoor photographs of Gods creation very relaxing. I enjoy the reality that photography is history being captured with each click of the of the cameras eye. Each picture has a story to be told.
