About The Artist

Photography is my most current means of artistic expression. That is not to say I am new to the medium , I have been involved with photography for more then twenty years. However, until recently my main creative outlets had been through painting and drawing, always endeavoring to improve my skills as I progress. I was always most comfortable with water colour or pastels, I liked the immediacy of the medias; I could progress quickly to a finished work. This desire for rapid results made photography an appealing media to explore, however the lag between taking a photo and seeing the developed results was frustrating and hampered the process of artistic experimentation. Digital photography changed this and makes it possible to realize immediate results as I creatively exploit the shadows and the colours of my subjects in pursuit of the elusive... the captivating images from daily life.

I prefer landscape and still life as subject. I enjoy the challenge of finding the intrigue and the splendor in otherwise ordinary scenes or objects. Landscapes give me an opportunity to capture the majestic beauty of the earth we live on.

I am a member of the Canadian Association of Photographic Arts (CAPA) and my image “Boats on Peggy’s Cove” was featured as photo of the month in September 2006 at www.capacanada.ca.
