Artist Statement David is an international photographer based in a small coastal town in the redwoods of northern California.

His goal is to make artistic images of exotic locations which stir wanderlust or provide escape. David strives to make the photographs so realistic and compelling that you can imagine yourself in that spot, watching and listening as the day passes. You can be there whenever you choose to, through the photographs on your walls. You will get a sense of the culture and spirit of the people who love that place. Landscapes and architecture have equal emphasis.

David has a background in science and map-making so location and detail are very important. He focuses on a sense of place.

David is a member of two art organizations where he exhibits regularly and has received awards in juried exhibitions. His photographs were selected as Best of Show at the Bend (Oregon) Summerfest in 2010 (>150 artists).

David and his wife have met many kind people in their travels. David tries to give you views from the perspective of a visitor who enjoys new places and new people, and respects the culture and traditions of his hosts. These photographs are glimpses of some of the things that he has learned while traveling. And learning is an important part of traveling.

You will see extreme mountain landscapes, iconic city views, famous landmarks, tiny villages, quiet countrysides, and ancient architecture.

David also has a *Travel Photography Blog* with brief stories about the places, the people, or the experiences of making the featured photographs: www.earthmapphoto.com/blog
