Description This was painted in the Canyon Lands area north east of the Grand Canyon on the Navajo Reservation. The vegetation is scarce and the high Mesas tower high over the land. I was captivated by the light as it cut across the picture plane as storm approached behind. The scene is full of the wonder I feel when I spend time on the reservation.
Kevin McCain, Mesa Member Since June 2011 Artist Statement I am a professional artist and children's book illustrator. In my paintings I use vibrant colors and thick impasto to give my paintings a life and vitality that capture the viewer’s attention. I strive for a dreamy quality to my paintings. To make them more reminiscent of memories rather than an illustration of a particular scene. The impression of the landscape is more important than the actual content.
