DescriptionThis Winter Scene I came upon while up in the mountains of Boise, Idaho. I came over a small hill and found this bleak stand of Aspen trees that seemed to huddle together against the cold snowy day. The air was crisp and the snow was high so I couldn't stay long. I took the photos I needed and came back to the studio and tried to capture the same magic of the warm reds in the trees against the blues of the snow.
Kevin McCain, Mesa Member Since June 2011 Artist Statement I am a professional artist and children's book illustrator. In my paintings I use vibrant colors and thick impasto to give my paintings a life and vitality that capture the viewer’s attention. I strive for a dreamy quality to my paintings. To make them more reminiscent of memories rather than an illustration of a particular scene. The impression of the landscape is more important than the actual content.
