DescriptionIn Their Eyes - Original Photography by Karol LivoteAn Observation.....I have had three German Shepherds. The first one was from a AKC breeder. Thought he was the Best Dog Ever!! Outstanding protection & family dog. After he suddenly passed away on us at age 10, I did the unthinkable and bought one from a pet store, which no doubt came from a puppy mill! He was a good dog, but had many medical problems, he even had his own dermatologist!! He passed away after 5 years from kidney failure, a very short life and that is when I said no more dogs!! But those moments looking around for our canine family member were pulling on my heart strings, so I hit the internet, just to see what was out there on petfinder.com. Well, there was this small Sable German Shepherd, which my husband just fell for. So we went to check him out & of course, he attached to us right away. Turns out he barely survived his previous owner's abuse and whatever else he may have gone thru, he was near death when he was first rescued. They did not think he was going to make it. I am so grateful that he did make it & that we found him five years ago! He is an amazing dog and family member, sometimes I truly believe he should have been a police or army dog, because he has those traits for being a working German Shepherd. Then there are times like this, and I say no way, he belongs with us!!! :>) I just wanted to tell the story because I had heard about the way rescued animals are and I totally believe that there is something special about a rescued dog. I highly recommend if you are looking to get one, try to rescue one. They need us, and you will find out that you need them!!

My story is quite simple. I was about ten years old when my sister gave me my first camera. I took right to photography. In my high school days, I was hardly seen without a camera in my hand. I participated in Photography classes and had my own darkroom at my home. Over the years, I have kept up with my photography and I continue to promote my images thru publications and sales. My greatest love is nature and all is has to offer, however, there are times I will focus on other subjects, as well.
It is true that my passion is my photography, but what I do with my photography is my true dream, and that is making a difference with it. Whether it is getting one person to care about our wildlife or perhaps by helping someone realize that they need to look at things differently in their own life. By gettting a person to stop and view captures of moments, perhaps they will come to realize that there is more to a photograph than being just a picture. I hope that people can feel what is in my photography and can stop and smell the roses and make a difference, whether it is with their own life, their family, the nature around them or even a stranger's life.
