ABOUT the Artist Stan George

A SMOKING HOT COMEDIAN......STAN GEORGE Do you remember those Candid Camera TV clips of a frizzy-haired, goofy guy who scared people silly, in a supermarket, emerging from a freezer, then made them laugh with belly-ache? That's Stan George - and contrary to the temperature in the ice-box back then, he's smoking hot! Stan, from Basel, Switzerland, is currently performing ,receiving standing ovations. For someone who states Hits age proudly - he's 60 - Stan's surprisingly young at heart. One can easily imagine him starting out. The Swissman was eager to become a showman after watching the House Variety artistes, "You know, the ones that performed matinees to old ladies and children." At 23 year's of age, armed only with his nerves, ("I'm always nervous," he admits. "It helps!") Stan went to his small, hometown circus and enquired if they needed a clown. "I was the stupid eccentric clown in the trio," he says. "The one that gets all the smacks." Although he never wore a red nose, he accentuated his large feet by wearing longer shoes, and exaggerated his tall figure and lanky arms, by purposely wearing jackets with short sleeves. The beginning of his stage Lok worked well, and after two seasons with the circus, he moved to perform in his first Theatre, the Clara Variety. Later, he added the goofy teeth and excellent jazz music to create his world, something he continues to do today, "I've been building new ideas for nearly 40 years!" He tells me, "Often, it's when an accident or a mistake occurs on stage, I get an inspiration for a new, permanent idea." Although Mr George has an array of acts spanning out further than his dentures. Stan surprises me by offering some more personal info. "You know, it's painting that I love. I've even had an exposition in Paris. Art, for me, is like applause." His father was a painter
