Liz Pritchett Member Since June 2012 Artist Statement As a young girl my mother would take me to art shows and museums to view the paintings and sculptures. I became in awe of the beauty that I saw and became inspired by the impressionist painters. I especially admired the female impressionist Mary Cassatt and the Mexican painter Frida Kahlo . Learning to appreciate art at a young age I began to start my own painting's. I took painting and drawing workshops throughout my life. I later attended college and received a B.A. degree in studio art.
Painting is now and will always be my passion. My favorite medium is oil however I also work in acrylic and pastels and watercolor. I paint figurative, portrait and landscapes in what I precieve to be the style of a surrealist. I keep my colors vivid and britght in an attempt to create the emotion of the moment. My favorite subjects are of everyday events of friends and family and I will often work them into my artwork.
I recently co-wrote and illustrated a children's book "Jake and Emi's Neighborhood" which can be found on amazon.com.
