DescriptionIn Norse mythology, Odin is the one-eyed, all-seeing god of war, magic and wisdom. He is a complex figure, associated with poetry and inspiration, madness and battle fury; he is a shapeshifter, and considered fickle, not to be trusted. Here he is shown in one of his manifestations, the Wanderer, with his two ravens Hugin (thought) and Munin (memory) which fly over the land and whisper to him of all they see and hear; and his two wolves Geri and Freki. This illustration was inspired by a story I wrote called 'The Eye of Odin.'
F.T. McKinstry, New England Member Since September 2007 Artist Statement I am a fantasy author who loves to paint. Writing and painting work together nicely; one inspires me to do the other. Endlessly fascinated by woods, gardens, birds, wild animals, the sun, moon and stars, I like to put to canvas, or in words, inner landscapes done in rich colors and a mysterious feel inspired by fairy tales, myth, legend and imagination.
