Artist Statement I like grungy/messy textures, so urban environments are a source of inspiration for me. I try to create imitations of distressed urban environments with some contemporary and abstract elements applied.

I believe there is beauty within these things, within these neglected creations of man. Over time orange rust forms on the metal door, paint peels on the house revealing the colors underneath that were meant to be hidden, the elements outside strip away the protective coating to make vulnerable the surface, a passerby vandalizes, the sun wears down the text on the sign so it becomes illegible. The clash of colors and textures create an unintentional piece of art.
Is this not life? you start out with a fresh coat of paint, you glisten in the rays of the sun…but in time things change. With exposure to the elements you take damage, bolts and screws come loose. But you prevail; you rush into it all and never look back. Is this not a thing of beauty? The determination, the resilience and the many other qualities attained along the way….so, through it all, have you not attained even more beauty within you?
Mediums: acrylic/spray paint/mix media
Canvas: mostly gallery wrap and some canvas panels.
