Description Located in the community of Otisville, New York, USA was settled in 1816. This is now part of the grounds owned by theFederal Correctional Institution, Otisville, NY, USA.The site was used as a tuberculosis sanitarium (1906 - 1955), and a Division of Youth facility (Otisville Training Facility, up to 1972). This is a barn on the grounds of the former sanitarium located on a present part of the New York state prison. The sanitarium became a boys' training school for the state, and served as such until some time in the 1970s, when it was transformed into a N.Y. State prison facility. A boys' training school was another name for a reform school for male juvenile delinquents. It was briefly a drug treatment center, before it became part of the state prison.Due to the length of the prison fence and rough terrain, exterior guards were mounted on horses. A sawmill for lumber and maple syrup production were soon introduced for prisoner work, a dairy and beef farm was also part of the work program.Composed in Photoshop with layers, adjustments, filters and textures.
