Ricardo Creations Member Since December 2009 Artist Statement - I became interested in art as a small child and took every art and crafts class I could in school. Thanks to my mother whom could not afford it at the time, I was sent to a drawing and painting studio for formal lessons, at around 12 years of age. Over the next 30 years I have come to appreciate and endeavored to learn most styles and mediums as well as consume art history, and the very interesting lives of the great artisans.
I work in Oils, Acrylics, Watercolors and Ink "Sumi". With the help of modern software I also create digital enhanced works.
Many of my works are inspirational, decorative and folk art pieces I create from my original oil and acrylic palette knife paintings, painted with heavy impasto and finish with fine ink work.
My Zen works are naive minimalistic in style and have been compared to Japanese Woodblock Prints and Sumi-e.
My technique is intuitive - I merely start drawing or painting and let the piece develop itself.
