Description Painting. The idea for this painting came to me during one of my spiritual practices, but I did not paint it for several years. The meaning behind it is that by looking at a seed, one cannot possibly imagine what the flower or fruit will look like without already knowing this in advance. When we plant our seeds with the things we say and do, for good or ill, we frequently do not know the outcome. If we try to plant seeds of love, we have no idea how our love may sprout or what form it might take in the future. The hair looks like a striped zucchini or watermelon, and the yellow flakes are pieces of light.
Sondra Sula, Aurora, IL Member Since June 2008 Artist Statement Painting is my first love - I've been influenced by German Expressionism and Fauvism. Emotion through the use of color is very important to me. I adore extreme, brilliant color and have a preference for figurative work. I've been painting for many years, have been in over 40 shows, and have had previous representation with galleries in Chicago and Santa Fe.
I love art and work in several forms of art including photography, oil pastel and "Little Souls" which are found-object mosaic-like pieces, like small framed shrines. Creativity is a gift to be enjoyed by those who create and those who observe - so ENJOY!
Make sure to visit all of my galleries. I'll be adding new work on a regular basis. Thank you for visiting!
