Description Icelands Thingvellir National Park sits in a rift valley along the Mid Atlantic Ridge which is being split by the movement of the North American and Eurasian geological plates. Lake Thingvellir contains species of fish that are found nowhere else in the world. As you can, see along this rift the water is crystal clear. This section is easily accessible to tourists and is a popular spot for throwing coins into the water. Original photo.
