Description Little Soul series found object 'mosaic.' St. Martin of Tours is symbolized by the horseshoe, and in Turkey, the horseshoe is sometimes combined with the symbol of the evil eye to ward off evil. I liked joining the two and imagining this 'tour.' The curved metal piece suggests a horseshoe and the shell suggests an eye.Includes: metal, pine cones, alder tree cones, pine seeds, beads, seed pods, shells
Sondra Sula, Fort Bragg, CA Member Since June 2008 Artist Statement Painting is my first love - I've been influenced by German Expressionism and Fauvism. Emotion through the use of color is very important to me. I adore extreme, brilliant color and have a preference for figurative work. I've been painting for many years, have been in over 40 shows, and have had previous representation with galleries in Chicago and Santa Fe. I am now with a gallery in Elk, California.
I work in several forms of art including photography, oil pastel and "Little Souls" which are found-object mosaic-like pieces, that serve as small framed shrines. Creativity is a gift to be enjoyed by those who create and those who observe - ENJOY!
Make sure to visit all of my galleries. I'll be adding new work on a regular basis. Thank you for visiting!
