Artist Statement Mid-career artist Joan de Bot began her career in the late 70's as a painter of systematical art: she painted large dimension color fields and patterns. In the 80's the meticulous works make way for vigorous brushstrokes and eruptions of color. In the 90's De Bot travels to many countries such as Cyprus, Italy and Australia, painting and exhibiting landscapes and cityscapes from the places she visits. More recently, she has started to explore America's East and West Coast

At present, Joan recaptures the original patterns and color fields to transfigures these into textile design, resulting in an imaginative collection of fashion pieces and tapestry. In her newest series of paintings De Bot combines patterns and expressionist elements
