Description Little Soul series found object 'mosaic.' The original Infant of Prague statue was thrown behind an altar during the Thirty Years War and its hands were broken off. The statue was supposedly at one time owned by St. Teresa of Avila. I like the idea of St. Teresa being nourished by Jesus as her 'host' and breakfasting on the Lord. Both the egg cup and statue are broken, as are we all.Includes: egg cup, Infant of Prague statue hand, shells, buttons, beads, stones, glass
Sondra Sula, Aurora, IL Member Since June 2008 Artist Statement Painting is my first love - I've been influenced by German Expressionism and Fauvism. Emotion through the use of color is very important to me. I adore extreme, brilliant color and have a preference for figurative work. I've been painting for many years, have been in over 40 shows, and have had previous representation with galleries in Chicago and Santa Fe.
I love art and work in several forms of art including photography, oil pastel and "Little Souls" which are found-object mosaic-like pieces, like small framed shrines. Creativity is a gift to be enjoyed by those who create and those who observe - so ENJOY!
Make sure to visit all of my galleries. I'll be adding new work on a regular basis. Thank you for visiting!
