Artist Statement Siri Chand Kaur Khalsa MD

Dr. Khalsa has been as student of the creative process including yoga, mixed media and jewelry design. Starting with Tai Chi and Qi Gong in college, she began to see the ways these ancient and subtle technologies could enhance the daily sense of well being. Continuing on to her studies of yoga during the demanding years of medical school and residency, Dr. Khalsa found the techniques of yoga and meditation essential to staying balanced. After completing her allopathic studies, her quest for learning new ways of healing has continued and these studies have taken her around the world to remote teaching centers in India, Brazil, Europe and Nepal where she has photographed her travels extensively. Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan is a masterful blend of ancient sounds, postures and breath that Dr. Khalsa has seen create profound change in many lives. She feels a deep joy and respect for these teachings and believes that Kundalini yoga and mediation help create a vibrant life. Dr. Khalsa is well versed in many areas of healing and particularly enjoys working with essential oils and Ayurvedic principles and weaves these concepts with the principles of Kundalini Yoga. Her teaching in nutrition and wellness has included lectures for Dr. Andrew Weil’s Program in Integrative Medicine in Tucson. Currently working in Hospice and Palliative Medicine, Dr Khalsa is also trained as a Reiki Master and is an IKYTA certified level 1 Kundalini Yoga teacher. Her art/creative outlets are the forum that allow her to explore and release the vast terrain that she works in.
