Description The Good Shepherd print is from an original woodburning which was burned into Basswood. The natural basswood grain is highly visible throughout the print and as the background. One of the greatest challenges of woodburning is working with the grain. Each wood surface is specially selected to ensure the grain compliments each completed woodburning. The wood's grain and natural imperfections such as knots and mineral streaks affect the Sophia like tone or appearance created during the heated process of the pen. Its wood grain adds beauty, texture and serves as a unique signature of each woodburning.

Artist Statement Thornton Pyro~Woodburnings are free-hand sketched onto a wood surface, then the sketch is burned directly into wood with a pyrographic pen in meticulous detail by hand, producing a realistic quality to each piece with a soft sepia tone presenting a rustic appearance and timeless impression.
