DescriptionIt was autumn of 1998 when I visited several Ashland cafes and got permission to photograph people working behind the counters. Using the images for reference, Ipainted seven small, horizontal paintings most of which are 24'x12'.The Schedule shows a young man and a young woman studying the week's work schedule.Pastry, coffee, a blender, tea boxes, juices, and other food business clutter contrast with thewarm glow on the walls. The scene has a youthful, casual, and cozy flavor.
Faye Cummings Member Since March 2007 Artist Statement I've been involved in the arts for 30+ years. My paintings have been displayed in both group and solo exhibits and have been featured in various publications. My work is included in private and corporate collections.
From 1986 to 1998 I produced over 100 acrylic and acrylic collage paintings in thematic series, sometimes accompanying the images with corresponding poetry. Early series explore issues of social concern. Later bodies of work are figurative explorations of light and color with an emphasis on human dignity.
Since 1997 I've enjoyed learning about digital art and exploring a variety of software programs. Regardless of the medium my work is a celebration of people, nature, spirit and life.
