Description This is a classic Japanese Sci-Fi image, with Godzilla (Gojira), Mothra and Ghidrah, the 3 headed monster. These classics were made at TOHO studios with Inoshiro Honda directing and Subaraya working special effects. Some of the best miniature effects were used that make these films timeless. I enjoy watching them today eventhough they were products long before I was born - that is something. The detailed miniature, classic story lines and maybe anti-nuclear bias as in 50's Japan come into play. Looking at it today and making it after the March 2011 earthquake, tsunami and resulting issues with Fukushima Daichi - there is subtle mention of the same as the monsters attack it (FD) while the army attacks the monsters :-) Now, after I finished this illustration, I felt that for some strange reason - I was not done, so then came what is now listed as the 1st in the series of 2 illustrations called Tribute to TOHO. Hope you enjoy the same.SPECIAL NOTICE: This image has been submitted to the curators of Imagekind for inclusion in the ART FOR HUMANKIND PROJECT that is aimed to provide charitable contributions to Japan resulting from the devastation of the earthquake, tsunami and resultant Fukoshima nuclear disaster of March 2011. If selected, I will be donating 50% of my proceeds from this image thru June 2011 to the JAPANESE RED CROSS SOCIETY (http://www.jrc.or.jp/english/relief/l4/Vcms4_00002070.html)
Sachin Mehta, San Diego, California Member Since January 2011 Artist Statement Sachin Mehta is a California artist. I started as a child however it was only about 8 years ago that I have seriously explored the creative side. I am self-taught. I enjoy drawing the details of life in a busy illustrative style that has evolved into something quite unique and fun. You can see my Indian influence in some of my work and am working to develop that further. I use various mediums including color pencils, charcoals, pastels, watercolor, acrylics and anything else that is handy. Prints herein have been scanned and digitized from original artwork.
