Although I had heard Vincent's voice speaking to me on a couple of occasions, he had not visited my dreamworld in some time and I was missing him. He must've felt that somehow, for last night, as I dreamwalked along the shore of the lake that bounded the backyard of a house I once owned, he joined me. In my dream it was sunrise, and the lake was lit with color. 'What a glorious spot,' Vincent said. 'You must miss living here.' I smiled ruefully. 'I never thought I would say this, but I do miss it. By the time we moved I couldn't wait to get away, but now the peace and quiet, not to mention the beautiful gardens we had, would be a wonderful addition to my life,' I answered. 'But you know the old saw, you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone. And none of it's the same anymore anyway.' Vincent nodded. 'You don't want to move backwards in any case. You are on a forward trajectory to new horizons, and that is the direction you must maintain.' I tried to smile but felt my heart sinking. The path forward is strewn with great boulders of uncertainty, and that makes me nervous. Vincent must have noticed my face change, for he took my arm. 'Let us walk along the shore,' he suggested. 'Put all thoughts of the future out of your mind for just a little while. We'll watch the sun spread over the lake and imagine how it will be soon spreading over your life.' 'You can't possibly know that the sun will shine on my life,' I protested. 'I would like to believe it -' 'Then BELIEVE it!' he interrupted fiercely. 'MANIFEST it! You have the power.' I sighed. 'I'm tired, Vincent. I need to take off the harness for a while and yet I know I can't - not just yet.' He smiled. 'Soon enough. Imagine - weeks away from that grim palace you inhabit. You must be sure not to take any of its essence with you. But enough of that. Let us live in this moment.' Except copyright 2014 RC deWi
