Artist Statement Ken Lawrence is a Belgian photographer. His work has been sold on multiple art fairs in his home country and will soon be included in an art gallery exhibition focusing on young and talented photographers. Ken is excited by the prospect of reaching a global audience through Imagekind.

Although his work covers diverse topics he mainly enjoys offering unique perspectives on cities and what goes on in the hidden fabric of streets and alleys.

"I like how advertising posters can take on a life of their own after being exposed to the city and its inhabitants. Graffiti artists leave their marks and the combination with junk starts breathing life into abandoned streets."

However he doesn't only aim for the dilapidated parts of cities.

"What people create in cities leaves permanent imprints. Buildings are renovated, monuments are erected and new neighborhoods are created. I am constantly impressed by what man is able to construct"

The value of his work lies in exposing what makes cities tick, showing impressive city architecture while including solitary figures to give a sense of scale to the surrounding buildings, and discovering those details which others would dismiss as irrelevant or unattractive.

"I think it is this juxtaposition between temporary 'junk' and permanent beauty which I aim to capture."
