Description The world's largest water lily, Victoria 'Longwood Gardens' is a hybrid of two South American riverine species, and can grow more than 5 feet across. Several mature and one immature leaves shown here. Leaf undersides covered in sharp thorns. The football-looking structure is a flower bud. The flower looks like a giant magnolia, and blooms for only 2 nights, the first as male, second as female. Google 'water platter' for more info.
