Artist Statement Tony Gauba was a professional photographer and outdoorsman non pareil. He died in an accident in 1970. All of his photos here were taken in the 1960s, with a few from the 1950s. I am attempting to keep the wonderful art of his photography alive, so that it may continue to be enjoyed. A quick word about these images: So far all of Tony's photos that I have scanned have been 8" x 10" prints developed and printed by Tony's hand, so while I spend 1-4 hours per scan cleaning up the detritus of over 40 years of aging from each image, you are viewing them as close to possible as he intended. Darkroom printing, in the right hands, is an art unto itself, as equally important to the final image as composition, lighting, and subject choice. I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I do. I continue to scan and restore his photos as quickly as I can, so if you want to see the latest images, visit the tonygaubaphoto.com website and "like" my Facebook page or follow my Google+ or Twitter page. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
