Artist Statement John Goolsby was born June 13,1957, in Augusta, Georgia. He developed a love for art at an early age. He first started drawing while in elementary school, and was popular among his peers for his drawings. At age 16 he painted his first water color, and proceed later to experiment with oil, and acrylic paintings. His talents have developed in a variety of works. Even though John Goolsby took a few painting classes, he considers himself a self-taught artist,.
