DescriptionWomen's Gymnastics Uneven Bars. Back in 1978, while coaching at a couple of gymnastic schools in Massachusetts, I was inspired by turn-of-the-twentieth-century artist Alphonse Mucha’s amazingly detailed and beautifully designed posters to create a set of posters for women’s gymnastics. I designed one for each of the four events in women’s gymnastics and some of the sequences on the posters are of famous gymnasts executing some of their signature moves. My designs in pen and ink aren’t nearly as beautiful as Mucha’s work, but quite a few young gymnasts around the world enjoyed them just the same when they were featured with a full-page spread in the November 1978 issue of International Gymnast Magazine. For that exposure, I was very thankful and spent many hours in the following months mailing prints of the posters to young gymnasts from many countries.
