There are no lies in a watercolor painting. It is straight to the point and this is what I love about it. Being honest and genuine are very important qualities. Every mark on the paper is exposed. Watercolor is raw, immediate and intense. It requires minimal process, but absolute focus. The media is controlling the artist. The loss of control is exhilarating if you understand its abilities and its limits. Being honest to others requires respect. The watercolorist must respect the honesty of the paint. And when the paint is on the paper its final—no polishing. This allows it to be fresh.
