Description A bluejay bird finds a place to perch on a cluster of rusty rural mailboxes. Underneath, a yellow butterfly is attracted to the lavender morning glory blooms and stops to investigate. Inside an open mailbox sits a brightly wrapped gift left by a thoughtful friend. Oil painting inspired by my days as a substitute rural mail carrier.
Vivian Eagleson, Arab Member Since June 2010 Artist Statement My interest in art began at a very eary age. My mother taught art as a school teacher and gave private instruction as well. Like my mother, my art reflects the beauty of God's creative work in nature. I went to art shows with my mother and sold my first painting when I was 15 years old. I still have the receipt for that first sale. Since then I have made many more sales and have even won a few awards at art shows. When I was in High School I was Art Editor on the Annual Staff my Junior and Senior years and was voted Most Talented Girl in my graduating class. I graduated Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science Degree and later I studied Nuclear Medicine Technology in Atlanta, GA. I continued my interest in art and attended several workshops and showed my paintings at local art shows. After living in the Atlanta area for a number of years, I decided to return home to my roots in rural north Alabama where I reside with several dogs and cats and my God given love of art.
