Description Both the Christian and Islamic artistic traditions have their basis in scripture and both are intended as aids to prayer, meditation and understanding of the infinite. In both cultures, the motifs used in the art are only pale reflections of eternal and ideal forms. We cannot possibly comprehend the nature of God/ Allah. It is only for Him to know. Yet the flowers and foliage are a reminder of the beauty of God/ Allah and His Creation. The calligraphy is:-AL-ANAAM, 006.099, Qur'an: 'He it is Who sendeth down water from the sky, and therewith We bring forth buds of every kind;'Isaiah 55:10, Bible: 'For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud,'The original painting was done for an interfaith exhibition in London. I deliberately mixed up the style of the letters, with the Kufic stlye script being the Bible text and the Uncial style script being the Qoran text, to help demonstrate the many similarities between the two holy scriptures.
