Artist Statement Steve Gubin is a photographer who has recently returned to his hometown of Chicago after a 30 year residency in San Diego. Although his photographs defy any easy categorization, a careful viewing often reveals a subtle sense of mystery and surrealism, odd frozen moments of uneasy ambiguity and whimsicality. His images whisper, rather than shout.
