Female Fantasy Art – Galleries and Prints at Imagekind
Female fantasy art celebrates the beauty and integrity of the female psyche and
form. Set within mythological scenes, fairies, witches, mermaids and human women
embody the supernatural and mystical aspects of fantasy. Whether it be the dark
arts or good magic, witches appear often in fantasy art pieces. In front of a full
moon or conjuring creatures such as bats, butterflies and ravens, these women capture
the mind and imagination of any viewer. Fairies are so common a theme within fantasy
that there are artists who devote their entire career to drawing or painting these
magical creatures. Much of Amy Brown’s art depicts various fairies, male and female,
engaged in a wide variety of supernatural activities. Her female fairies are usually
adorned with a large array of different wings, from venous and delicate wings, to
powerful and dark appendages. With her imaginative drawing, Brown is able to show
different aspects of the female persona, strength, independence, mischievousness,
beauty and, sometime, vulnerability.
Nick Marci, a Russian artist, creates beautiful female fantasy art depicting women
in strong roles as priestesses, oracles, idols and mythical warrior figures. He
paints this strength into the form of his female characters by showing strength
in their limbs and features. Women play a central and important role in the stories
that Marci’s paintings tell and this is the main idea behind the genre of female
fantasy art.
