Artist Statement My Name is Kristine Griffin,
I am married to Donald, we have been married for 15 years. We met in Alaska and came back to Washington State and were married at his family home. My Children and his Daughter are all married now and we now have 15 Grandchildren, we like to tease that we got one for every year.
My Husband is an Executive Chef and we work Seasonal jobs. Our Summer Job has been with Glacier Park Inc. for the last 3 years and we will starting there again in May this year. Our Winters are in different locations, 2 seasons in Big Sky Montana and on season in Whitefish, Big Mountain Resort, other locations include Nevis in the Carribean and Sun Valley in Idaho. This is an exciting way of life, and it offers the time to visit and see wonderful places. As a photographer at heart this is the perfect combination of work and play.
Glacier National Park is on of my favorite places to be. Animals, Lakes, Snow (in July), and the wonderful Sunrises and Sunsets, always something exciting to see. The History of the park and the Going to the Sun Highway are also my favorite. Learnig about the Blackfeet and their culture and working with them at the resort is very rewarding.
Another plus in seasonal work is that you get to meet people from all around the World. Each season I have met and been introduced to many different international workers, most are college age students. These young people have meant a lot to me. There willingness to share their country while you share yours with them is so wonderful. I have learned so much more from them, then I did from any history book.
Our Grandchilren are the best! It is hard to get to be with them as much as we would like. I have stayed home this Winter to be with them more and this has been fun. We have been taking lots of pictures and the younger ones love to feed the ducks and we have even taken a few skiing trips with the kids.
I have many hobbies: Photography, sewing, quilting, beading. I like to look for animals and watch the sunset. Family is very important to us.
