what price silence
the quiet grows ever scarcer as winter closes in petty commotion strangles sanity as the world rushes to cram all its sprawling madness into a short slice of daylight
and even when the sun dies the pervasive droning continues because there is so much of importance and i use that word wryly bitterly yet to be done
this carnival of neverending noise exhausts me i am too worn out to think in the late hours that have always nurtured me seeking the refuge of bed and book rather than entertaining the muse
a major adjustment is underway but i fear it will not take hold i am forced to unfold my mind too early for the jigsaw it is to properly assemble itself
can i shed the dark plumage i wear become the lark greeting the dawn to purchase a small window of silence in which to create or am i condemned to the frustrated mayhem of non-accomplishment until this long dark season passes? ~ copyright 2016 RC deWinter
