Artist Statement A kid trapped within an adult body. An athlete flesh, combined with an artist soul. A pencil-lover heart blended with a computer-nerd mind.

So, the name is Melanie. I was born and raised in the beautiful country of Guatemala. For the moment, I live in the amazing city of Boston, Massachusetts, majoring in VMA (Visual and Media Arts) Animation at Emerson College.

My passion for drawing started from the moment I could hold a pencil (yes, years, and years ago). I received a couple of classes but nothing to big to mention, except for that particular teacher: Maria Victoria García. She is a pretty well-known-artist in Guatemala, who taught me, practically everything I know about painting. However, the drawing skill was a gift God decided to give me.

My biggest dream is to be part, someday, of the Pixar Animation Studios group. And, may I be honest, animation is probably the art I know the least! I've worked in very few animation projects, but what can I say! I'm just a sophomore.

Being my family and my country my main inspiration, here I stand today following and staring at my dreams, with a big desire of changing the world with art and movies, passion and heart.
