Description This oil painting was my original promotional artwork for the cartoon strip titled 'Hobo Robo'. These many and varied robots maintain agriculture, mining and manufacturing activities on the distant planet of New Georgia. The humans that conquered this planet have long since left, leaving all production and other activities to their robots. Each robot type is equipped to perform specific functions with robot brains equipped for that purpose. Their are many and varied levels of awareness among the robot models. The interplay of these mechanical creations is humorous and sometimes bizarre. The current appearance of the robots has been updated for 2014 and, hopefully, will appear more organically interesting in their body lines. This painting is the original robot appearances. Hobo Robo is in the middle, Pygme robot is on the right. The Oilbots are on the left moving toward the Scrubots.
Paul Simone, Fayetteville Member Since June 2008 Artist Statement I have been drawing since I could hold a pencil. My so called 'right brain' has been active from the start. However, life got in the way and my 'left brain' won out. I got steered in the direction of electronics first via the US Air Force and later via the American Telephone & Telegraph company. But the GI Bill paid off and I got as much education as I could. One of my degrees is in art. Now that I'm retired I can once again return to my 'right brain' and, through the wonders of computers, allow my 'left brain' to participate in expressing my artistic feelings by using pixels as well as oils, acrylics, watercolors, pen and pencils. I have also taught drawing, oil and acrylic painting among other things. In addition I have studied and practiced photo restoration for over 25 years now. Photoshop has been my program of choice in case you are wondering. I do have a program called 'Painter' but I generally live in Photoshop. Adobe's new sales policies annoy me so I'm looking at a program called GIMP. My other website is at www.glazemaps.com and is designed as a tool for artists; check it out. As of 1-1-2014 I am reviving and converting my cartoon strip 'Hobo Robo' into an adventure series. It will be completely overhauled and illustrated by me. The New Hobo Robo is already far beyond my initial expectations; I create it and I'm amazed each day. Stay tuned. Thanks, Pauljs
